Good financial governance covers financial systems, controls, transactions and risks, and is achieved by having robust processes and checks in place.

A growing business

As your business grows, good governance becomes more challenging to achieve in the time available.   I will

  • Ensure your processes and controls are appropriate for your business – for where it is now, and where you plan for it to be in the future
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and support your team in implementing these actions if desired.

This valuable service will be vital if you are introducing an investor, a partner, or even selling or buying a business.

If buying or selling a business, a process called Due Diligence is required. I will

  • Prepare or review financial projections supporting your assessment and ultimate decision-making
  • If required, prepare a “data room” and support your team in answering questions, ensuring all the relevant information is to hand so that the process goes smoothly.

As trusts are required to have an independent review of their financial governance, having a qualified individual who is entirely independent can give stakeholders confidence.

If you are a Finance Director of an Academy chain you may be looking for support in carrying out such reviews over the academies within your trust.

As a former school governor and qualified accountant with many years’ experience, including external and internal audit work, I will work with your School Business Managers, making sensible but effective recommendations.

Supporting professionals

If you are a solicitor, finance broker, or other professional, it is wise to ensure your clients’ numbers are robust and credible before sharing them with a third party.  Presentation of the information and how it is communicated is key to building confidence.

I will work with you or your clients to ensure that assumptions and estimates are grounded in reality and that internal data is correctly extracted from accounting systems. I will convey the information in a way that will allow third parties to grasp key points and increase your clients’ chances of success.
